Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Bulgaria is opening 2023 z/OS Software Development Internship Program.

Our 6-month part-time training program is aimed to prepare and develop students for a wide variety of positions in software development, DevOps engineering and Test/Quality assurance.

During the learning journey the Intern will gain new skills on the specific skill set that is needed to be actively engaged in day-to-day software development processes in IBM.

During the whole program extensive training and workshop sessions will be conducted, in order to obtain not only technical knowledge and understanding of IBM z/OS operating system and its components, but also proficient communication skills and corporate culture.

An experienced engineer – Mentor – will be assigned to the apprentice, to provide support and guidance throughout the learning journey.

You will learn how to:

• Develop code for IBM z/OS operating system used in most of Fortune 100 companies
• Benefit of IBM decades-long experience in building the backbone of the world’s critical businesses
• Communicate with international teams
• Develop and demonstrate expertise in IBM software development practices
• Demonstrate soft skills and technical skills that contributes to IBM success
• Contribute positively towards the achievement of performance targets in all aspects of the team’s activities.

This internship may have flexible working schedule.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Technical expertise:

• In-depth knowledge in C/C++
• Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Strong interest in system programming
• Familiar with operating systems concepts

Personal skills:

• Being an active University student or a recent graduate in technical subject
• Fluent level of English language skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent communication skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Technical expertise:

• Experience in PL/X and/or Java
• Experience with source control systems (Git)
• Understanding of Agile methodologies

Personal skills:

• Open for new challenges
• Willingness to work with limited supervision
• Team spirit
